The project idea came about when we noticed the unsafe conditions of the house that the two families used to live in. The space was not used wisely and it was very dangerous for the two families to continue living in it. We had several discussions with all the families’ members and we came up with a new design and we had to demolish the old house because its condition was very dangerous and we couldn’t rehabilitate it. We introduced the idea of the rammed earth technique to them, showed them some photos of similar buildings so they can be more convinced. The main function of the building is that it is a social housing unit for two families of eight members. We tried to make use of the space as much as possible to accommodate the needs of the two families. Each house has two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room and a kitchen. Each house has its private entrance and its access to the roof. The project had a great impact on all the family members. They now have adequate space for all the family members; the building is safe and sufficient for their needs. The ventilation is much better than before. The neighbors were also affected by the methodology we used in the construction
